Song Lang (Song Lang)

Saigon in the 1980s was hit hard by the American embargo. In the darkness of the local underworld, the only ray of light is the performances of the traditional folk opera company.

An unlikely friendship is intertwined between the cash-striker and the company’s celebrated actor, bringing unexpected feelings to life in both of them. They both have similar pasts and childhoods, but life destined a radically opposite fate for them.

Song lang in the Vietnamese language is both a percussion instrument of folk opera and also means “two men”. First film director Leon Le’s film has garnered more than 25 awards from the Beijing International Film Festival to the LGBTQ Film Festival in San Francisco.
